Welcome to Hotel Monitor
Hotel Monitor is Amex GBT Consulting’s forecast for hotel rates across the world. Here, you’ll find analysis of what’s driving prices and advice from our hotel specialists to help you build an effective hotel program. With prices set to moderate – at least, compared to the steep rises we’ve seen since 2022 – has global hospitality reached a turning point? Hotels continue to be squeezed by higher-than-inflation costs for key inputs, including labor. But the landscape is changing in significant ways. Leisure demand – so long an upward influence on rates – shows signs of abating. Record levels of hotel construction are feeding more rooms into supply. In Hotel Monitor 2025, you’ll find the essential info to help you negotiate the changing hotel landscape. For bespoke insights you can use to optimize your hotel program, get in touch with the hotel team at Amex GBT Consulting.

Methodology
American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) used Prophet time series modeling to generate the hotel rate forecasts in Hotel Monitor. The data for the analysis came from Amex GBT's vast data lake. Inflation is an important factor in hotel price rises, so we’ve put International Monetary Fund (IMF) inflation forecasts at the center of our predictive model. Prices are in local currencies.
